From Sunday 8 September a service change will take effect across the Lothian network to improve reliability and add capacity on certain routes.
There will also be a review of bus stops on Princes Street west-bound affecting Lothian Country and East Coast Buses services, to speed up boarding times and ease congestion.
Among the highlights included in this service change are:
- Revised route for Service 32 to operate via Heriot Watt University’s student halls of residence – West Lodge, Curriehill Station instead of Riccarton Mains Road.
- Revised route for Service 33 with additional bus added to improve reliability in addition to extra journeys during weekday peak and in early evening.
- Following customer feedback, additional journeys will operate on Service 15 to Easter Bush on weekdays.
- Later journeys on Service 45 on weekdays and Saturdays, with Saturday frequency increased from hourly to every 30 minutes.
- Review of bus stops for Lothian Country and East Coast Buses services west-bound on Princes Street.

Extra journeys will be introduced during the Monday to Friday morning peak hour and in the early evening. Service 30 and N30 will continue to serve the east end of Murrayburn Road.

Bus Stops Review
Further to timetable changes, there will be a review of bus stops west-bound between Waterloo Place and Princes Street (west) to improve journey times across the city centre.
At Waterloo Place, a dedicated stop for Lothian Country services will be created at stop [ZH]. Lothian Country Services X27 and X28 will
no longer serve Waverley Steps. Services X18 and 43 will continue to serve stop [PQ] at Waverley Steps. At Princes Street (west) Lothian Country Services X18, X27 and X28 will serve a dedicated stop at [PX]. Service 43 will continue to serve stop [PU].
At night, Services N18 and N28 will continue to serve both [PQ] Waverley Steps, [PS] Scott Monument but will then move to [PX] Princes Street (west). There are no changes to Service N43.
East Coast Buses Services X5, X6, X7, 124 will no longer drop-off at Waverley Steps westbound. Alternative drop-off stops will be located at [ZJ] Waterloo Place and [PT] Scott Monument.
NightHawk services N107, N113, N124 heading back to Edinburgh City Centre will continue to drop-off at [PP] Waverley Steps but will then drop-off at [PT] Scott Monument instead of [PR].
At Princes Street (west), to allow stop [PX] to become a dedicated Lothian Country stop, there will be changes to services serving stops [PY] and [PZ]. The stopping pattern will mirror stops [PS] and [PT] at the Scott Monument. Services 26, 31, N26 will move from [PX] to [PY]. Services 4, 44 and N44 will move from [PY] to [PZ].
There will be small changes to east-bound stops on Service 15 to reflect its extension from Waterloo Place to King’s Road. Service 15 will follow the same stopping pattern of Services 26 and 44 serving stops [PD] and [PN].
