Fares and tickets
We offer a range of flexible ways to pay for travel on Lothian Buses. Read on to find the ideal ticket or card to fit your lifestyle and budget.
Note that all of our regular services (with the exception of AIRLINK) use an exact fare system for cash fares. Please have exact change available when boarding, place your change in the red fares box and take your ticket from the machine (either beside the fares box or just behind the driver's cab). Drivers do not have access to cash and cannot give change.
Mobile ticketingYou can purchase and use:
Adult SINGLEtickets and DAYtickets
Adult NIGHTtickets and DAYandNIGHTtickets
for both Lothian Buses and East Lothian Buses.
A new way to pay using your phone.
The official Lothian Buses app means there’s no need to search for the exact bus fare again. Instead, you can buy and load your phone with Lothian Buses m-tickets. Your m-tickets can then be activated and used as you need them. The app also uses real-time information and can send push notifications so you’ll always know when your bus is due. While you download the app, take a minute to read our m-ticket FAQs.
