Edinburgh charities benefit from our employees generosity
Lothian Buses Employees’ Charities Fund give to local causes.
The Lothian Buses Employees’ Charities Fund is made up of donations from staff wages which are then matched by the Company. It was set up in 1979 to provide assistance to local causes and charities.
This year we were able to give over £30,000 to various local charities including Hearts & Minds and Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
Pip Quinn, Fundraising and communications officer, Hearts & Minds said:
The £1,000 kindly donated by Lothian Buses will be used to improve the experience of people in hospital and respite care by using the performing arts to encourage communication, interaction and laughter.
Heather Irish, Communications and Fundraising Officer at Down’s Syndrome Scotland said:
We are delighted with the generous donation from Lothian Buses and would like to thank their kind and thoughtful staff. Every year we have to raise 74% of our income from the public in order to continue to provide support, information and services to families of a person with Down’s syndrome. With the money raised by Lothian Buses, our Family Support Service will be able to provide 18 home visits to parents and families of people with Down’s syndrome throughout Scotland to ensure that they receive essential information and support at all stages. Thank you for ensuring people with Down’s syndrome reach their full potential.
