SEE and be SEEN!

Road Safety is something we take very seriously at Lothian Buses.

We are part of the 'Streets Ahead' organisation, along with the City of Edinburgh Council, Spokes and Lothian & Borders Police, who meet monthly to discuss road safety in Edinburgh.  We also have regular communication with local cycling groups to discuss best practice for all road users, especially bus drivers and cyclists.

Using the knowledge we have gained, we have made a short film to help make road users, especially cyclists, more aware of the space large vehicles need to manoeuvre, the space cyclists need and the importance for them to be seen.

The film is now being used as part of our driver training programme for both new and existing drivers.  Our drivers have said that it has helped them realise just how quickly cyclists can travel and the importance of using their mirrors regularly.

John Jardine, Driving Trainer Manager said:

'This video highlights the problems faced by drivers and cyclists daily.  We hope by showing this film to all road users in Edinburgh it will raise the awareness of road safety and help prevent any potential accidents.'
