An important notice to all our passengers
From Ian Craig, Managing Director of Lothian Buses plc
You may have seen the front page headline in Wednesday's Edinburgh Evening News declaring that our adult single fare will rise to £1.50 in a few months time.
I would like to say that this story is purely speculative and is based on related press articles regarding future Scottish Government funding for their national free concessionary travel scheme.
Lothian Buses, through the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has an on-going dialogue with the Scottish Government and no decision has yet been taken regarding the outcome of future funding arrangements. This is a very important matter for all bus operators in Scotland and will have a crucial bearing on how the industry moves forward.
At Lothian Buses we are working hard to maintain the extensive bus network that we provide to all our customers across the Lothians – and are committed to enhance these services in response to growing customer demand, wherever and whenever possible.
As the table below shows, I am proud to say that we continue to offer fantastic value for money - especially considering how much operational costs have increased in recent years. We provide some of the best value fares that you will find anywhere in Scotland – or indeed across the whole of the UK. We are commercially focussed and will continue to drive efficiencies in everything we do.
We have a policy of being open and honest to all our customers about the fares and the services we provide. If we do have something to say about them, we will tell our customers and stakeholders directly and in a timely manner. That's how we've run this business to date and intend to continue doing so in the future.
